HumanitiesDC is 1 of 56 state councils supported by the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH). The aim of the organization is to ensure the humanities are available to all Washingtonians by using grantmaking to invest in local scholars and organizations, as well as engaging residents through public programming.
My goal was to increase engagement and grant applications through social media copy and graphics. In order to achieve this I:
Created a social media calendar and implemented a regular posting schedule to increase awareness
Sought out figures in the DC humanities sphere and regularly engaged with their posts
Researched and regularly engaged with many other NEH-supported state council accounts
Promoted Humanities DC workshops, grant opportunities, programming and productions
As a result, the organization's annual Humanitini Curator grant saw a 50% increase in applicants in two weeks, Twitter followers increased by 18% in three months and Facebook followers increased by 12%.
